concrete jungle... and back slashes!

I've been in the inquiry of how I can promote/expand/sell my series of Industrial Bonzai. One of the initial themes or thoughts or expressions these trees were/are about is how we, as a society, continue to create concrete jungles to work/live/play in( I really like the back slash BTW). We continue to plant trees is limiting concrete planters or portions of side walk to beautify an area of harsh buildings and highways. What I also think is intresting to think about is that for all the trees that way back in the past populated our cities compared to what we try to plant to make up for what was lost is such a small fraction, especially to think that part of whats behind planting trees is bringing green/oxigen/life back in where it has long been gone( harsh I know, but its a statement of how little our society is really engaged in a "greener" future. I also have no documentation nor have I done any real research to back anyhting up, this is just my perception of things)!

I recently had a conversation about my trees, and what I had shared about how I viewed them and what I was looking to engage the viewers in is not really what people were experiencing as a viewer. Hmmmm, I wondered if that would be the general interpritation of my work by a larger audiance or maybe just one view of many that I had recieved after a very superficial survey.

I have decided to kill 2 birds with one stone on this inquiry. Simultaniuosly I will be creating a branch/continuation of the series Industrial Bonzai, and finding a gallery and scheduling a show for the pieces. What a perfect way to have a survey/conversation to get a sence of the peoples perception of my work. So first I invite/request you all to support me in my quest/game of having my art be available for people to experience. Who knows any gallery owners, or anything about getting a show in a gallery? It was the one thing I didn't get out of a college education!

A whole YEAR!!

Well its a been a whole year and a day since my last post... huh... I guess its time to get bloging again! So up date, I had a show in Aug with my paintings, and I'll post them, and it went well... slow. I was hoping for a bigger turn out, and I can only blame myself, as I did not have flyers or cards to hand out to friends and family and anyone. On the up side I did sell a painting, so exciting! I have plans for a show for my sculptures some time in 2011 so keep and eye out, theres gona be lots of trees in some gallery in Oakland! I have a bunch of new ideas for more trees that should be really fun to make and for people to see! I think it will be an awesome expansion on the theme I've been working on in this series!
